The Parade Dental Practice is a great place to work and our staff are testimony to that. Some have been at the practice for over 14 years! We have four dentists, one hygienist and six members of staff, all here to provide you with excellent dental services at a price everyone can afford.
Peter Wright graduated from University College London in 1987 as a dentist. He then attended Chelsea College to do his BSC (HONS) in 1988 to 1991.
He has over 20 years of experience in general dentistry, in practices in Tolworth and now in Ewell. His special interest within dentistry is aesthetic work (composite resin restorations, Procera and Duragold crown and bridge work, and tooth whitening). His feeling is that good communication and establishing a rapport with the patient, along with respect, teamwork and a sense of humour with all members of staff, are the keys to an enjoyable and successful career in dentistry.
He attended numerous postgraduate courses in all aspects of general dentistry and was awarded the "Certificate For The Long Restorative Course" at the Eastman Dental Institute.
Peter is also a professional songwriter signed to a North American music publisher. He’s written numerous hits worldwide with a major number one hit in Germany 2006. Other interests include football.
Betsie Blignaut qualified as a dentist in 1986 at the University of Pretoria. She owned her own private dental practice before relocating to the UK in 1991. She joined The Parade Dental Practice in Epsom 1992 as an associate and later became the principal in 2001.
Betsie is an experienced general practitioner with a special interest in treating very nervous patients. She is happily married with one son and enjoys golf, yoga and skiing in her spare time.
Charisse Rahim graduated from King's college London with a dual qualification as a hygienist and therapist.
She has over 10 years previous nursing experience and is accustomed to managing anxious patients.
She has a keen interest in child therapy, and facial aesthetics.
Charisse works part time at the Parade dental practice, but in her spare time she enjoys reading, and travelling.
Johann was born in Ireland and grew up in Zambia. He attended Stonyhurst College in Lancashire. Johann graduated from Guy’s Hospital in 1989 and completed his Diploma in Forensic Dentistry in 1994.
He is married to Maria and has a little girl, Isabella. His interests are playing squash, golf, sailing and swimming.
Michaela qualified from The Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic in 2002 as a dentist and general medical practitioner. She has worked at her mother's private dental practice and in 2007 she completed The International Qualifying Examination at The Eastman Dental Institute in London. She has been practising in Kent since 2008.
She is a qualified Inman Aligner Practitioner. Michaela is skilful in using STA Wand, a syringe-free and pain-free system in replacement for traditional injections. Read more here.
Michaela is a caring, ethical person who believes in long term care and high quality dentistry. She enjoys providing cosmetic work and treating nervous patients. She keeps at the forefront of modern dentistry by regularly attending postgraduate courses and lectures.
Her hobbies, amongst many, include art, reading psychology literature and travelling. She lives in Worcester Park with her son who was born in 2011.
Dr Von Backstrom is a medical doctor who qualified in 1988. He has a two year diploma in sedation and pain control and was Clinical Assistant Anaesthetist at The Royal Berkshire Hospital until 2001.
Dr Von Backstrom has been involved in dental anaesthesia and sedation since 1991 and has carried out in excess of 50,000 general anaesthetics and sedations.
Dr Von Backstrom has been involved in cosmetic treatments since 2000.
He works in the ‘10 Years Younger Clinic’ in Wimpole Street and provides the same treatments to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and laser treatments here at The Parade Dental Practice.
He qualified (with honours) as a specialist in Periodontics and Oral Medicine at the University of Pretoria in June 1985. Since qualifying, Hennie has lectured at Pretoria University for 22 years and worked in a private practice in Pretoria for 23 years. He has been an external examiner for both pre and post graduates students at Wits University, Johannesburg and Pretoria Universities for 5 years.
Hennie has been involved in implantology since 1987 and has experience in the following systems: Southern, Branemark, Nobel Biocare, Ankylos, 3i, Innova, Strauman, Zimmer, as well as Sendax implants.
He is also a member of American Academy of Periodontology and is registered as a Specialist Periodontist with the General Dental Council in the UK.
Hennie works part-time in The Parade Dental Practice and fulfils the role of diagnosing and treating diseases of the gums and supporting tissue. With Hennie’s vast experience in the placing of dental implants, you are sure to be in the hands of an expert.
Csilla is qualified in Budapest (Hungary) from the Vincotte Academy in 2010.
She has experience working in both private practice and general practice, and always enjoy meeting new people and getting to know my patients.
Csilla has a calm and gentle approach which puts even the most nervous patients at ease. As well as being an enthusiastic oral health promoter she also enjoy the challenges of treating patients with complex periodontal needs.
Csilla has travelled extensively, living and working in Hungary, Australia and now settled in the UK. In my free time I like gardening and swing dancing.
